Wake Forest Baptist Receives Approval To Build Replacement For Davie County Hospital.
The State has approved the application of Davie County Hospital/Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center to replace Davie County Hospital.
Detailed planning will begin immediately for the hospital to be located at Interstate 40 and Hwy 801 in eastern Davie County, said Donny Lambeth, interim President and Chief Operating Officer of N. C. Baptist Hospital. The goal is to open the hospital in 2012.
"We are grateful for the overwhelming support we have received from Davie County, western Forsyth and southern Yadkin counties," Lambeth said. "There is no doubt that there is a public need to replace Davie County Hospital, and we are delighted that the State has confirmed that."
The 52-year-old hospital has limited services and is not located conveniently to the majority of Davie County residents. Improvements will continue to be made in Davie County Hospital, which will remain open during construction of the new hospital.
Physicians who are currently caring for or intend to care for significant numbers of residents in Davie, western Forsyth and southern Yadkin counties are invited to apply for privileges at Davie County Hospital. Wake Forest Baptist plans to accommodate physicians and their patients who prefer to use the new Davie Hospital. We will accept all major insurance plans.
Davie/Wake Forest Baptist will continue to pursue its most recent application to replace Davie County Hospital. That application is for a 50-bed hospital offering obstetrical services. "The people of Davie County have expressed their desire and need for obstetric services, and we agree that there is the need," Lambeth explained.
The State will hold a public hearing on this application at 1 p.m. September 18 at River Oaks Community Church on Lewisville Clemmons Road. Those supporting the application are encouraged to attend. For information, contact jrohrer@wfubmc.edu.
